As a consumer there are 5 key things you need to look out for when buying a hot water bottle these include:
- The British Standard (BS) Mark - The current standard 1970:2012 should be marked clearly on the body of the hot water bottle.
- The Manufacturer’s and/or Distributors mark - usually a name or post code that can be easily found in an internet search. This should be marked clearly on the body of the hot water bottle, so that in the event of a serious defect with the product the manufacturer/distributor can be located.
- That the hot water bottle comes with instructions for the safe filling of the bottle - This should be followed closely and kept for future reference.
- The date daisy - which can be found on your hot water bottle shows the date of manufacture: year | month | week. The number in the middle of the daisy is the year the hwb was made, the flower segments represent the 12 months of the year and the dots inside the number of weeks. The date daisy is used by manufacturers and suppliers for batch tracking
- The Guarantee offered - The length of guarantee can differ from supplier to supplier. Our hot water bottles hold a 2 year guarantee against manufacturing defects. Valid from date of purchase. The guarantee DOES NOT cover general deterioration of the hot water bottle which is attributable to individual use, therefore it is recommended that you replace your hot water bottle at least every 2 years from the date of purchase, to ensure that the hot water bottle being used is safe and fit for purpose.
